sip & Savour Ontario will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 sip & Savour Ontario is dedicated to bringing education, support and accessibility of Ontario's local wine, culinary and agricultural industries to the public, all in support of Houselink. This multi-faceted program raises consumer awareness about the outstanding VQA wine and local food products of Ontario. It also showcases the incredible quality and flavour available here in Ontario, while focusing on the vast benefits of supporting local industries and the people who are dedicated to producing them. In 1995, Order of Canada recipient, Tony Aspler, founded the Ontario Wine Awards to recognize the growth and quality of the Ontario wine industry. Building on its success, sip & Savour Ontario was launched allowing for a means of publicly showcasing these award-winning VQA wines, and pairing them with local cuisine prepared by some of Ontario's most celebrated chefs. About HouselinkHouselink Community Homes provides a home, community and opportunity for people living with mental illness. Houselink pioneered the concept of supportive housing in Toronto. In its 34 years, Houselink has helped over 2,000 people re-engage, re-build and recover meaningful lives. Today 470 members, including 40 children, call Houselink home. People come to Houselink seeking a good, supportive home – often the first real home they have had in years. But that is only the beginning. All our residents become voting Houselink members, participating in the life and the decisions of the organization. Peer support, the promotion of social justice and nurturing stigma-free communities are at the heart of all programs. From there, personal stories of recovery from homelessness and mental illness become commonplace. All donations contribute to the community health needs and recovery of over 470 Houselink members. These include creating opportunities to enjoy healthy food, daily community kitchens, weekly social recreation activities, supported employment opportunities, access to a Rainy Day Fund, and educational bursaries. www.houselink.on.ca
